•About the centre

This is a Vipassana Meditation Center. It is completely a non-profit organization where Vipassana is being taught and practised.

•What is Vipassana?

The word Vipassana means to realize the things or facts as they really are. In other words, it can be described as the cultivation of mind to purify it and to get emancipation from all sorts of sufferings as the Buddha preaches, it is the one and only way of deliverance from sufferings. It refers to purification of mind and spiritual development. Vipassana is to seek emancipation from the sufferings emerging from birth, aging, death, rebirth etc and to provide philosophical understanding of human life with utmost care. The result of every action (Kamma) remains latent in every mind of living beings (Human, Animals, Insects and Germs) which lead them (living beings) to reach the heaven or the hell for enjoying or suffering that result of the previous actions. That previous aggregated result of actions may be abolished by practising the meditation that is called Vipassana. Besides there is only a noble way for not generating any kind of future action which is also called Vipassana Meditation. It is the supreme and splendid innovation of the Buddha.

• Why Vipassana?

- The way of destroying aggregated actions.
- The way of eradicating fifth hindrances.
- The way of defeating fifth Mara.

- The way of breaking down ten conjunctions.
- The way of eradicating ten troublesome.
- The way of maintaining four purified regulation.
- The way of closing four kinds of sufferings (Apaias).

• Why is it established?

Bodhipal International Vipassana Meditation Centre, Chittagong in Bangladesh can be called the unic ideal leading centre to learn and practise Vipassana since 2001.It was established to help the persons those who would like to enlighten themselves with the wisdom of the Lord Buddha. In order to be a self contained institution the centre needs the organs like Memorial Stupas for Achariya Ven. Bodhipal Samanera and Aryamata Ranuprava Barua at their cremation sites; a meditation hall; accommodation for the Vipassana Yogees; Accommodation for the Servers; Chankraman (walking) hall for the Vipassana Yogees and a dining space etc. All these are crucially important for the Centre.

 

• Who are the planner, dreamer and founder of BIVMC?

Vipassana Achariya Ven. Bodhipal Sramanera was the planner and founder of BIVMC who is known as a great spiritual philosopher and researcher and regarded as the supreme preacher and Vipassana Achariya. Being enlightened with the light of the Lord Buddha, he is responsible to enlighten many people in the light of Dhamma throughout his time. Starting from the end of eighteen decade, as a torch bearer of the Vipassana among the Bangladeshi Buddhists, he commenced a great renaissance of Vipassana meditation. He had got two meritorious and brilliant disciples, Aryamata Ranuprava Barua and Vipassana Achariya Ven. Ashin Khemika Bhikkhu (former Temeobrata Barua), are regarded as his supreme disciples, assisted him to spread out the Vipassana Meditation among Bangladeshi Buddhists.

 Aryamata Ranuprava Barua, mostly known as Aryamata, was a legendary meditation teacher and arya. Bodhipal Intermational Vipassana Meditation Centre is the consequence of her long cherished dream. She attained in spiritualism (Magga phala) under the intensive care of Vipassana Achariya Ven. Bodhipal Sramanera. After attaining Magga phala, she was self-inspired to establish a Vipassana meditation centre in Chittagong. This BIVMC is situated in the cremation site of Aryamata Ranuprava Barua.

Vipassana Achariya Ven. Ashin Khemika Bhikkhu is the present president and director of BIVMC.He has a vast knowledge on Buddhist philosophy, Vipassana meditation. He has got thorough experience of delivering sermons in diverse way throughout the three decades. Along with his Achariya Ven. Bodhipal Sramanera as well as Aryamata Ranuprava Barua, He has been teaching a lot of Vipassana courses in remote areas of Bangladesh. At present he is guiding Vipassana courses very skillfully in this centre and off-center. He has brought a revolutionary change in practicing the Buddha Dhamma from the traditional way of practice, as most of the Bangladeshi Buddhist had been derailed from practicing the Dhamma in the proper way. He has thought many minds to practise the Dhamma in a philosophical way where Vipassana and Abhidhamma are synchronized in the way of practising meditation. The centre is now guided very effectively and efficiently by the strong direction of Vipassana Achariya Ven. Ashin Khemika Bhikkhu.
